Why I am here

This blog was started to connect with and keep family and friends up to date on life in Texas as I know it. A place to share my love for this area through photography, history, and stories of this adventure Shaun and I call life.... and what an adventure it is!

Our red river runs

Wow! From 2:00 today until about 5:00 we received close to 1.3" of rain. THAT is ALOT of rain at once people!
This is our front yard and retaining wall. The drain system behind the wall got plugged creating a nice little "water feature" fountain.

We planted the upper level with rye grass since it wasn't sod season yet to help with erosion. Thankfully it is working. HOWEVER the red river is still flowing below. Yikes!
It has started raining hard again and the forecast is for a total of 7" by Sunday.
It could be a VERY interesting weekend.
All of this moisture is good for our ponds and lakes and to help with the effects of last years drought. HOWEVER all at once is probably not the best way to get it.
All of this red mud and water makes me realize I will spend my weekend bathing dogs and washing dog feet. {{sigh}}

Oh well...such is life in East Texas in the spring
If you happen to look out and see us floating by please throw us a snack *wink*

Love and miss you all
Jeanne
