Last time I posted they were installing granite and the painter had finished. This week we expect to see the alarm company, have the appliances delivered and maybe see the plumbers for their final set. Bent Creek Customs will also be here this week to adjust drawers and doors and install shelves into the beautiful cabinets they built for us. We should also be able to finish up all of the tile by the end of the week. Shaun is working on the floors and showers, I am doing the backslashes in the kitchen, bathroom and laundry area.
This stage of construction really makes me exercise that patience thing. Working all day on little things like installing doorknobs or cabinet and closet hardware, all those little jobs that take SO much time but don't show much visible progress. That's where we are! That is both extremely exciting and a little frustrating. Every little thing gets us one step closer. I can see the cabinets just sitting there waiting to be filled, the closets just waiting to hang up clothes in but can't do one thing because things aren't 100% move in ready yet. AAhhhhh!!
I am trying very hard to remind myself of all of the little things that need to be done before move in day. Why do they need to be done? Because I know "US". "US" will not finish the details if we move in too soon. "US" will say we will ..... but we won't. If the past has taught "US" anything it is that the statement "we will finish that later" is forbidden in our world, especially the building project world. Thirty two years of marriage and numerous "projects" have taught "US" one important lesson. Just do it right the first time. We try to live by this quote by J Wooden
"If you don't have time to do it right the first time, when will you have time to do it again"
When?? you ask.. when?? I will tell you when....when the house goes on the market, that's when, Or so it has been in the past. AND since Shaun has assured me that this is the last house (I am still taking bets on that) "US" is taking care of the details now. BUT it still drives me nuts!! I am very ready and yes very impatient to move in.
So here is what has happened at the house in the last few days
The granite is in and is beautiful!
Shaun has finished the master and guest bath floor tile and is working on the kitchen, laundry and dining room tile.. It is all looking pretty awesome! I swear the man is good at everything he touches AND he makes it look so easy. SO very thankful he is mine.
This has been my project, tiling the kitchen backsplash. I hope to be finished by the end of the day tomorrow. I am not as speedy as Shaun is but I have to admit it has gone much faster since Shaun told me to stop using a level on every tile. ALRIGHT stop laughing, I have disengaged the OCD thing (for now) and will keep working at it. *wink*. Then it's back to door knobs and cabinet hardware. Which by the way is freaking me out a bit. I am quite nervous about drilling into those beautiful cabinet doors and drawers. Yikes!
This should be an exciting week and hopefully one that will provide us with a scheduled move in day.
Love and miss all of you
Jeanne
